Our Mission
The NCFFC’s mission is to facilitate implementation of the full faith and credit provision (18 U.S.C. § 2265) of the VAWA. The full faith and credit provision directs that any protection order issued by the court of a state, tribe or territory shall be recognized and enforced by all other states, tribes and territories, if the due process and jurisdictional requirements of the statute are met.
The NCFFC staff actively work to raise public awareness of the provision and provide problem-solving technical assistance and support to individuals and jurisdictions for seamless implementation of VAWA.
NCFFC’s mission has expanded since its inception to include enhancing implementation of state and federal firearms prohibitions related to domestic violence, promoting effective application of the VAWA federal crimes on domestic violence and stalking, and upgrading inter-jurisdictional custody litigation to protect abused children and their protecting parents.
